Chiara Dalla Man was born in Venice, Italy, on March 2, 1977. She graduated cum laude in Electronics Engineering at the University of Padova in 2000 and received the Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Padova and City University London, in 2005. She is currently Associate Professor in Bioengineering at University of Padova.
Her research activity, carried out in collaboration with Italian and foreign investigators, regards mainly mathematical modeling of physiological systems, in particular metabolic and endocrine systems. Among the models developed by Chiara Dalla Man which had the greatest impact it is worth mentioning the so called Oral Glucose Minimal Model (Dalla Man et al
IEEE Trans. Biomed. Eng. 2002), and the large scale simulation model of glucose-insulin system, originally developed to describe glucose system in healthy (Dalla Man et al. IEEE Trans. Biomed. Eng. 2007) and then adapted to describe type 1 diabetic subjects, becoming the core of the UVA/Padova Type 1 Diabetes simulator (Kovatchev et al J. Diab. Sci. Technol.2009).
She is author of more than 139 publications (to date Scopus reports 139 papers in the period 2002-2018, quoted 6168 times, with an h-index of 41) on international journals and 4 International Patents. She is on the editorial board of Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology and Frontiers in Systems Biology and serves as reviewer for IEEE Transaction on Biomedical Engineering, IEEE Biomedical and Health Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Acta Diabetologica, Adapitve Control and Signal Processing, Diabetes,International Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Medical Engineering & Physics, PLoS ONE, Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology, Computer Methods and Program in Biomedicine, Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics.
She has been also invited speaker at the 2nd Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes held in Athens in February 2009, the 6th Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes held in Paris in February 2013, the 8th Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes held in Paris in February 2015 and was Keynote Speaker at the 9th IFAC Symposium on Biological and Medical System, held in Berlin (D) in August-September 2015.

She participated in several national and international projects:
• Progetto di Ateneo 2014: Improving the artificial pancreas simulator for long term outpatient studies and glucose sensor testing, with the role of PI;
• FIRB Futuro in Ricerca 2008: Pancreas artificiale: sviluppo in silico e validazione in vivo di algoritmi per il controllo della glicemia, with the role of PI of Padova research unit;
• Jouvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Grant 2010: T1DM simulation Core: Research Division, with the role of PI of Padova research unit (subcontractor);
• EU project FP7 2010: AP@Home: Bringing the artifical pancreas at home, with the role of co-investigator;
• EU project FP 2012: MOSAIC: with the role of co-investigator;
• EU project FP7 IMI Call topic: The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) Call_2008_1_08 SUMMIT : SUrrogate markers for Micro- and Macro-vascular hard endpoints for Innovative diabetes Tools, with the role of co-investigator;
• EU project FP7 2008: DiAdvisor: Personal Glucose Predictive Diabetes Advisor, with the role of co-investigator
